Dorothy Funderburk Schnaare, 89, of Grand Chain, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak with Rev. Ben Hotel officiating.  

Burial will follow at Ohio Chapel Cemetery near Grand Chain.  

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.

Mrs. Schnaare was a graduate of Elkhart Central High School in Elkhart, Indiana and retired from the United States Postal Service after 37 years of service.

She was a member of Hillerman Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Schnaare and Dale Schnaare and wife Tracy, all of Grand Chain; three grandchildren, Janet Hankins and Breezly Schnaare and Will, all of Metropolis, and Tina O’nan and husband John of Salem, Kentucky; one stepdaughter, Cecilia Hawkins of Metropolis; and four brothers, Bob, Don, David and Mike Funderburk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard “Big H” Schnaare; her parents, William and Bertha Rushing Funderburk; and one sister Betty Jones.
