William “Billy” Stokes, 82, of Metropolis, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Metropolis with Rev. Mark Russell and Rev. Bobby Strong officiating.
Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery in Metropolis. Pallbearers will be Allan Dale Stokes Jr., Andrew Stokes, Daniel Rowland, Jeremy Stokes, Dylan Gass and Shelton Abanatha.
Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, Jan. 24 from 5-8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Friday.
Mr. Stokes was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God and Maps RVolunteers. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from USEC in Paducah.
Survivors include his sons, William Keith Stokes and wife Donna of Metropolis and Rev. Allan Stokes Sr. and wife Joy of Madisonville, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Allan Dale Stokes Jr. and wife Samantha, Sarah Rowland and husband Daniel, Andrew Stokes and wife Jaymi, Faith Gass and husband Dylan and Jeremy Stokes; his great-grandchildren, Allan Dale Stokes III, Logan Stokes, Emily Stokes, Joshua Sivils, Aly Stokes, Malachi Stokes, Elijah Robert Gass, Emma Rowland, Daniel Rowland III and Paisley Jo Stokes; one brother, Ronnie Stokes and wife Levon of Mayfield, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester E. and Lucille Crow Stokes; his wife of 55 years, Shirley Helmantolar Stokes; one son, David Brian Stokes; his twin sisters, Karol Sue Stokes and Karon Lue Stokes; one sister, Janet Henderson; and one brother, Sherrill L. Stokes.
