Massac County commissioners found out at Tuesday's weekly board meeting from Massac County Treasurer Floyd Sullivan the county's general fund has a balance of $34,931, with the payroll coming around next week.

Sullivan told the board he had checked with local lending institutions regarding interest rates, if at some point the board decides to borrow money. Sullivan indicated the cheapest rate was City National Bank with a rate of 3.25 percent.

He also told the commissioners there may be a need to bring back a former employee, to help with the taxing cycle, while one of his other employees is off from work on short term disability. Commissioner Billy Hillebrand asked if Sullivan had already brought back the former employee. Sullivan said he had not done so, but that was what he had planned to do.
