The Massac County Patritots tangled with a pair of west Kentucky teams to end their regular season and came out with one win and one loss.

The boys whipped St. Mary last Thursday 7-3 at home but dropped a 5-1 decision to Paducah Tilghman Monday afternoon at Brooks Stadium.

Except for a throwing error on a double play ball in the second inning, Massac pitcher Bryce McClellan would have breezed through the Vikings, allowing only one earned run in the third inning. Luke Wieneke made sure that McClellan would have enough run support as he knocked in four runs on a pair of singles. A “seeing-eye”single into right field in the bottom of the third drove in the first two for Wieneke and a soft liner that hit the right field chalk line in the fifth inning brought home the last of Wieneke’s four RBIs.
