Billie “Bill” E. Harris, 84, of Metropolis, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at his daughter’s residence.

A celebration of his life in his new neighborhood where he has rejoined the love of his life after one month and three days apart was held Saturday at Community Christian Church on Country Club Road in Metropolis with Rev. Mike Hardison officiating. Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Bill was a member of the Gideon’s International; Kiwanis, where he was a past president; United Way; and a former Massac Memorial Hospital board member. He was also a charter member of Community Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Sally West and husband Terry of Massac County and Sandy Garland and husband Ray of Lone Oak, Ky.; four grandchildren, Chad West of Dallas, Texas, Matthew Hultman of Lexington, Ky., Natalie West of Oahu, Hawaii and Mitch Hultman and wife Sarah of Murray, Ky.; family friend, Brian Bleeker; two nieces; and one nephew.

Memorials may be made to Community Christian Church, 1150 Country Club Rd., Metropolis, IL 62960; Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 511, Metropolis, IL 62960; or Lourdes Hospice, P.O. Box 7100, Paducah, KY 42002-7100.

Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home of Metropolis was in charge of the arrangements.
