Brent Moore, 70, of Murphysboro, formerly of Metropolis, died Friday, July 6, 2012 in Murphysboro.

Born Jan. 28, 1942 in Benton, Mr. Moore was a U.S. Navy veteran and served as an air traffic controller at Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in Puerto Rico.

He was a commercial insurance broker and had last worked at Ramey Insurance Agency in West Frankfort, He was also a member of the Murphysboro Elks Lodge 572.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Rose Mary Graff Moore of Murphysboro; one daughter, Meredith Anne Moore and husband Kevin Hemenway of Mexico, Mo.; one son, Wilson Moore and wife Kara of Quantico, Va.; three grandchildren, Davis McBride Moore, Leila Kathryn Moore and Wade Gregory Moore, all of Quantico; one brother, Gary Moore and wife Kathy of Nokomis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Don and Anne McBride Jones Moore.

Funeral service was held Tuesday at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro with Rev. Kenneth Staib officiating. Burial followed at Mounds City National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or to the American Cancer Society.
