Carl was the former owner of Metropolis Mobile Homes and a former member of the VFW. He was an entrepreneur, avid hunter and a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include his sister, Dorothy B. Faith and husband Monroe of Mexico; nieces and nephews, Chris Geisler and Steve Geisler, both of Olathe, Kan, Leslie Faith of Illinois and Terri Duncan of Pittsburg, Pa.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Lucian and Erna Buchanan; his wife, Virginia Meinders Buchanan; and one brother, William Buchanan.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Terry Mathis officiating.
Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Kirk Duncan, Leslie Faith, Steve Geisler, Austin Duncan, Mitchell Jones and Michael Jones.
