Born May 14, 1935 in Metropolis, Mrs. Cates worked as a chiropractic assistant for Odum Chiropractic for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Self of Riverside, Calif. and Jett Cates and wife Patricia of New Baden; two daughters, Starr Struckmeyer and husband Stan of Albion and Dawn Burgess and husband Malcolm of Clarksville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her foster mother, June Wiggins of Niland, Calif.; two sisters, Henrietta Smith of Anna and Patricia Madden of Vincennes, Ind.; and two brothers, Charles “Ike” Reinbolt and wife Jeanne of New Hampshire and Ron Smith and wife Margie of Metropolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Floyd Cates; her parents, Charles Henry and Flora Harrington Rainbolt; one brother, Logan Rainbolt; and her foster father, O. Wiggins.
Funeral service was held Jan. 11 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Bobby Richardson and Pastor David Shain officiating.
Burial followed at Casper Cemetery.
