Born Oct. 30, 1924 in Metropolis, Mr. Holt was a corporal in the United States Army, serving as a truck driver in Belgium, during World War II. He married Josephine Joy Jackson on April 4, 1946, also of Metropolis.
In 1958, he moved his family to California, where he started his own business as a painting contractor.
Mr. Holt retired in 1991 and moved to Topock.
Survivors include his children, Margaret Holliday of Palmdale, Calif. and Bob Holt of Topock; six grandchildren. Tony Holliday and Gary Holt, both of Mohave Valley, Ariz., Robert Holliday of Escondido, Calif., Michael Holliday and wife Lynnete of Palmdale, Christina Holt of Salem, Ore. and Kelly Holt of Topock; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, John Holt and wife Brenda of Metropolis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Josephine Jackson Holt; his birth mother, Anna Copeland Holt; his parents, Cecil and Mary Holt; one son, Cecil W. “Butchie” Holt; one sister, Lucille Parker; and an infant brother.
A graveside service with military honors conducted by the U.S. Honor Guard was held April 29 at Desert Lawn Cemetery in Mohave Valley with Pastor Leslie Bell officiating.
