Charles “Chuck” Vines, 70, of Lake Ozark, Mo., formerly of Lakeland, Fla. and Mound City, died at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 at Lake of The Ozarks Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Mo.

Chuck was a member of the Church of The Redeemer in Cairo. He worked most of his life in bank financing and also in construction in Lakeland.

He was a graduate of Mound City High School and was well known for his athletic abilities in both basketball and baseball. He furthered his basketball career at Memphis State where he played four years with great success.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Reichert Vines; three sons, Steven Vines and wife Robin of Lakeland, Shawn Vines of Tampa, Fla. and Dwayn Vines of Lakeland; one stepdaughter, Heidi Gibbs of Lake Ozark; one sister, Monica Smith of Cairo; one brother, Brent Vines of Auburndale, Fla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Treva Salmon Vines.

Funeral service was held Friday at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak with Rev. Buddy Walls officiating. Burial followed at St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery in Grand Chain.

Memorials may be made to the Cairo Public Library, 1609 Washington Ave., Cairo, IL 62914, and/or to a scholarship fund in memory of Charles Vines, c/o Sandra Vines, 33 Akron Drive, Lake Ozark, MO 65049.
