Charles “Charley” E. Ragain, 80, of Hillerman, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at his home.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rick Ragain officiating.

Burial will follow at Busby Cemetery in Goreville.

Mr. Ragain was born Aug. 9, 1931 in Chicago to Charles and Ruth Gulledge Ragain, who preceded him in death, and raised in Marion.

He served in and retired from the U.S. Air Force before settling in Metropolis in 1972.

He later retired from Service Master after a distinguished career as a professional truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Ragain; his sons, Paul Myer, Scott Ragain and Tony Regain; his grandsons, Ben and Joe Myer and Luke Ragain, Benjamin Ragain, and Nathan Regain; and his beloved siblings, Faye Fox, Max Ragain, Patricia Stearns, Jimmy Regain and Rick Regain.

He was also preceded in death by his son, David Ragain; and siblings, Lois Anderson and Joe Ragain.
