Fitz said the coal terminal would be a transfer facility and coal would come from rail into a covered building. He stated the company's permits would not allow for coal to be on the ground.
According to Fitz, the transfer facility would be using the PEBCO coal chute — manufactured in Paducah — that would minimize the coal dust. He said there would be a vacuum system as well as a water sprayer in place as a part of the facility’s dust suppression system.
Fitz said other SCH Services' facilities do not use the PEBCO coal chute and noted this would be the company's first direct transfer operation.
