According to Sullivan, more tax bills will be arriving and he told the commissioners he hopes the bills will be mailed out some time next week.
Sullivan said the first installment date will be Tuesday, September 18 and the second installment will come due on Tuesday, October 23.
He also reported to the board the county's general fund balance this week is $32,812. But cautioned that an insurance payment of about $20,000 had not yet been made and would probably be coming out of that balance. Commissioner Jayson Farmer noted the financial situation for next week's payroll could be a little "tight." Sullivan agreed and said he is not aware of any money that is supposed to be coming in.
Massac County Highway Engineer Larry Glasco told the commissioners the department is continuing with some oil and chipping. Commission Chair Billy Hillebrand asked Glasco about the condition of the roads this year.
