According to Commission Chair Billy Hillebrand, both he and commissioner Jerel Childers have had various contractors come to the courthouse to look at the roof and the bricks. Hillebrand said at Tuesday morning's meeting that he has consulted with brick masons from Paducah who have agreed with his and Childers' theory that the bricks are sucking in the moisture like a sponge.
Hillebrand also noted that the increased foot traffic on the roof in recent weeks probably has not helped the situation and could have contributed to the problem. He also said contractors have also observed problem areas at the tops of the windows.
