Denise Parmer Farlee Gilbert, 52, of Frankfort, Ky., formerly of Metropolis, passed away on Monday, March, 19, 2012 at her residence in Frankfort.

She was affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene, worked as a nursing instructor at Spalding University and also as a nurse practitioner with Ephraim McDowell.

She was a member of the coalition of nursing practitioners and a Kentucky Colonel.

Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her loving husband, Larry Dale Gilbert of Frankfort; one daughter, Alisha Farlee and companion Rob Kearns of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; her parents, Donald and Barbara Parmer; two sisters, Vickie Waldridge and husband Bill of Metropolis and Lisa Atwell and husband David of Hickory, Ky.; one grandson, which was the light of her life, Bryce Kearns-Farlee of Cape Girardeau; and two nieces, Caitlin Knisely and Hailey Knisley, both of Hickory.

Funeral service was held Friday at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Bobby Parker officiating.

Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, which made it possible for Denise to spend her final days at home.
