Mr. Parkinson was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for approximately 39 years for Caterpillar as an inspector.
Survivors include one daughter, Amber Lee and husband Frank Saupp of Sandwic; one son, Anthony Parkinson of Coudersport, Pa.; one sister, Linda Hubert and husband Dave of St. Louis, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurel and Betty Lou Ross Parkinson; and his wife, Patty Sue Parkinson.
Funeral service was held Monday at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. David Siere officiating. Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites conducted.
