Mr. Sexton was a retired truck driver and heavy equipment operator.
He was a member of Single Tree Pentecostal Church in Brookport.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wiley Sexton of Metropolis; one daughter, Danita Christian and husband David of Metropolis; four sons, Duncan Clyde Sexton of Grantsburg and Dean Sexton, Vance Sexton and Devin Sexton and wife Trish, all of Metropolis; one stepson, Jeffrey Harris and wife Mabel of New Liberty; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Della Housewright of Metropolis and Delores Giltner and husband Charles of Brookport; one brother, David Sexton and wife Betty of Metropolis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Clyde and Margaret Rebecca Fink Sexton; one stepson, James Shelby; one grandchild; and one brother, Donald Sexton.
Funeral service was held Monday at Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis with Bro. Scott Huss officiating. Music was provided by Cindy Jeffords, soloist.
Burial followed at IOOF Cemetery in Metropolis. Pallbearers were Duncan Sexton, Dale Obermark, Dean Sexton, Vance Sexton, Devin Sexton and Jeffrey Harris.
