Dolores “Pat” Bland, 76, of Newbury Park, Calif., formerly of Metropolis, died Sunday, April 13, 2014.

Born Dec. 15, 1937 in Wapello, Iowa, Mrs. Bland was raised in Metropolis and graduated from Metropolis Community High School. She was a deacon at Monte Vista Presbyterian Church in Newbury Park and volunteered at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, Calif.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Duane A. Bland; four children, Cheryl Goff, Douglas Bland, David Bland and Sheila DiFraia; eight grandchildren: Chelsea Skaggs, Lindsey Bland, Chanel Mickelsen, Selenne Bland, Tristan Bland, Nathan Bland, Jacob DiFraia and Joslyn DiFraia; and two great-grandchildren, Olin and Elich Skaggs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Martha Hamm; and one brother, Edward Hamm.

Memorial service was held Saturday at Monte Vista Presbyterian Church, with a reception following in the fellowship hall.
