Earl “Pete” Bowman, 83, of the Dixon Springs community, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at his home.

Born Oct. 28, 1928 near Bay City in Pope County, Mr. Bowman was a lifelong farmer, a member and a bass guitarist for Joe and Friends band and was employed as an operating engineer. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 318.

Mr. Bowman was a member of Dixon Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Faye Morris Bowman; three sons, John Bowman and wife Martha of Metropolis and Larry Bowman and wife Beverly and Brad Bowman and wife Barbara, all of Golconda; nine grandchildren, Shannon Bowman and wife Margie, Melinda Sampson and husband Brian, Eric Bowman, Alan Bowman, Chuck Ellingson, Brittany Bowman, Brandon Bowman, Nancy Vincent and husband Drew and Valerie McChesney and husband Bill; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, David A. Bowman; his parents, Alvis Bowman and Myrtle Harrell Bowman; four brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral service was held March 7 at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna with Bro. Bud McDannel officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in the Rock community.
