Eleanora Lorraine Lacy Hill, 75, of Metropolis, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Saint Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born June 21, 1937 in Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Hill attended Southeastern Illinois College, where she received a certificate in nurse’s aide and chore housekeeping for the elderly. She had worked at Pope County Care Center in Golconda as a nurse’s aide.

She was a member of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church and served as superintendent of Sunday school, junior teacher and church treasurer. She also held the first Bible summer school eve there for two years. She later joined Mt. Horeb Freewill Baptist Church in Metropolis and worked with the mission department there until her health began to fail.

Survivors include six children, Norman G. Hill Jr., Patricia Ann Hill, Brenda Jeanice Hill, Garland Louis Hill, Sharon Agusta Hill Collins and Agnes Beatrice Hill Matchem; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Davidson and husband Thomas of Indianapolis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Grandfort Hill Sr.; her parents, Delman Allen Lacy Sr. and Ella Beatrice Underwood; and two brothers.

Funeral service was held Saturday at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville. Burial followed at Macedonia Cemetery near Brownfield.
