Eva June Rutt, 83, of Metropolis, died Monday, April 2, 2012 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.

Ms. Rutt graduated from Welborn Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1952 and was the director of nursing at Massac Memorial Hospital for 14 years.

She also worked for TIP of Illinois until she retired.

Ms. Rutt was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Paducah.

Survivors include one daughter, Leslea Bates and husband Richard of Metropolis; two sons, Wesley Rutt and wife Melanie of Webster, Texas and Alan Rutt and wife Kay of Woodburn, Ky.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorris Mace of St. Louis, Mo., Claudia Metzger of Katy, Texas and Wilhelmina Elaine Rubio and husband Martin of San Antonio, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Golda Helmig Lippert.

Funeral service was held Thursday at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Joe Beal officiating.

Burial followed at Lower Salem Cemetery in Massac County.
