With pages and pages of family stories, and stacks of photographs from snapshots to studio portraits, Massac County, Illinois History and Families is well on its way.

The book, being published by the Massac County Historical Society, promises to be an interesting read, with stories of families that made their homes and established their lives in Massac County.

The final deadline for submitting family stories has been set for Saturday, Oct. 20.

New brochures, with information about the new deadline and details on how to submit stories and order books, have been mailed to all households in Massac County.

All of the biographies will help tell the story of the county, and will not only be interesting for current and former residents, but will also be informative for genealogists and future generations.

The book will also include special pages for churches, schools, businesses, organizations, memorials and tributes. Deadline for these pages has been extended as well.

Family stories up to 500 words and one picture per household will be included at no charge.

Order forms, stories, pictures and book orders may be mailed to Massac County History Book, 23 Chick St., Metropolis, IL 62960.

For more information, call one of the book committee co-chairs: Cheryl Honey, 524-3882, or Betsy Fellows, 524-7203.
