Massac Memorial Hospital has announced it has been awarded a complete radiology Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) from FreedomPACS.
FreedomPACS, a medical services provider based in Southfield, Mich., periodically awards HIPAA-compliant systems to rural health providers to equip them with the latest medical imaging technology.
The gift to the Metropolis hospital was awarded through the FreedomPACS drawing at this year’s Illinois Rural Health Association (IRHA) Annual Education Conference.
The $45,000 gift will help improve workflow and enhance patient care, according to Chelle Keplinger, chief financial officer.
“We now have the ability to give our cardiologist immediate access to medical images and studies stored on a server to view and compare with past images,” said Keplinger. “We have never had this ability before, and it will benefit our patients.”
The HIPAA-compliant medical imaging system donated by FreedomPACS includes:
• PACS software — offering enterprise-wide viewing, storage and instant access to digital medical images using DICOM standards
• FreedomPACS Cloud — a highly secure, cost-effective offsite medical imaging storage solution
• ImageShare with Diagnostic Viewer — a secure cross-platform and license-free service that enables outside facilities and physicians to access necessary patient images quickly and efficiently
Massac Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed general medical and surgical hospital.
Founded more than 50 years ago, the hospital has been designated a Critical Access Hospital and offers cardiopulmonary, cardiac rehabilitation, laboratory, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, radiology, surgery, sleep medicine and transitional care departments.
FreedomPACS provides efficient and economical medical imaging solutions to healthcare professionals, practices and facilities.
