Mr. Stout was a member of the American Legion and Metropolis VFW Post.
He was a supporter of the Hardees’s Coffee Club and owner of G.F. Stout Mechanical Contractors, having local and statewide projects.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two children, Rebecca Lambert and Stan Stout; eight grandchildren, Carrie Neely and husband Greg, Chad Conder and wife Amanda, Montana Lambert and Boone Lambert, Matthew Stout, Christian Stout, Nathan Gower and Nikki Nickens; eight great-grandchildren, Campbell and Bennett Neely, Camden and Avery Conder, Max Sallman and wife Elyse, Nicolas Nickens, Alex Sallman and Jenna Gower; one great-great-granddaughter, Harper Sallman; a special friend, Mary Ruth George; and five sisters, Mary Griffey, Fran McCoy, Pat Seagraves, Sue Amos and Betty Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Greene and Fannie Littlemeyer Stout; his wife, Joann Stout; one son, Tim Stout; one sister, Verna Bramlet; one infant brother and sister; and one brother in law, Floyd Griffey.
Funeral service was held Saturday at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Joe Buchanan officiating.
Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens, with the American Legion and VFW providing military graveside rites.
Pallbearers were Greg Neely, Nathan Gower, Chad Conder, Montana Lambert, Boone Lambert, Matthew Stout and Jason Steele.
Honorary pallbearers were Caitlyn Krueger, Shannon Troutman and Alison Powell.
