Harold D. “Pard” Thomas, 78, of Hillsboro, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care in Hillsboro.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Dr. Ronald D. Rhodus and Rev. Jeff Hemken officiating. Cremation rites will be conducted.

Born April 11, 1935 in Perks, Mr. Thomas was a graduate of Karnak High School. He worked for Electric Energy Inc. in Joppa for 11 years and retired from CIPS in 1994 after 30 years of service. He was also the owner of Jo’s Mini Storage.

A U.S. Army veteran who served in Germany from 1958-1960, Mr. Thomas was of the Baptist faith and was a ham radio operator.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Patsy Broadway Thomas; two daughters, Mary Ellen Burk and husband Bruce of Red Bud and Anita Jo Simpson of New Berlin; four grandchildren, Corey Simpson, Josh Burk, Brette Simpson and Daniel Burk; two stepgrandchildren, Nicolette Burk and James Burk; and one sister, Peggy Livingston of Joppa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Nellie Wilkerson Thomas; one daughter, Cindy Koester; and one infant sister.

Visitation will be Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro.
