In honor of Harrah’s Metropolis Casino’s 20th anniversary on Feb. 23, the casino donated $1000 to 20 local not-for-profit organizations from the region, which included:  Happy Hearts; Massac County Mental Health; Reaching For Kids; Guardian House; Fellowship House; Massac County 4-H; Massac County Youth Fair; 2 Rivers Child Advocacy; Merryman House; Project Hope Humane Society; COPE Food Pantry; Metropolis Rotary Club; Happy Helpers; Rebuilding Together; American Cancer Society; Paducah Lion’s Club; Alzheimer’s Association; St. Nicholas Family Clinic; Heartland Cares; and Metropolis Kiwanis Club. Harrah’s Metropolis Casino and Hotel, the region’s premiere gaming, dining and entertainment destination, celebrates 20th years with special promotions and events in February.

Established on February 23, 1993 and opening under the name Player’s Riverboat Casino, the facility has been ushering an exciting era of gaming to the area by providing world-class gaming, entertainment and dining to hundreds of thousands of people each year from local and international destinations alike.

Much of the casino’s success is owed to the community and local region. To show appreciation Harrah’s Metropolis donated $1,000 to twenty local and national organizations – totaling $20,000. The donations were presented on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at an employee event in the River Front Event Center.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years,” said Mark Osterhaus, said General Manager Mark Osterhaus. “We’ve accomplished so much in the past 20 years. The success of the Harrah’s Metropolis stems from the hard work and dedication by our outstanding employees every day. It is extremely gratifying to see team members move up in their careers at Harrah’s Metropolis and be able to provide for their families and thrive in their communities.”

"As a thank you to our loyal patrons, on Saturday, February 23 a commemorative gift celebrating the official 20 year anniversary will be available at the 3rd Floor Winning Zone from 1–9 p.m., but only while supplies last. Also, fresh buffet will offer a special $20 dinner buffet featuring prime rib," said Osterhaus.
