For Massac County, the third time was not a charm as Harrisburg’s Lady Bulldogs shut out the Lady Patriots 3-0 to take the Olney regional on Saturday.

Harrisburg was a just bit too physical for Massac as they severely limited shots on goal for Massac.

Harrisburg beat the ladies 1-0, 2-0 and 3-0 this season and this last one ended what was a very good year for the ladies.

A first appearance in regionals ended in the championship game and brought the curtain down on an eventful year.

The Lady Patriots ended their season at eight wins, 10 losses and three ties.

Coach Brock Frazier had nothing but praise for his team after the game as did several of the fans in attendance and host school Olney’s coach.

“They played hard today and really all year. They’ve come a long way over the last couple of years and to make it this far in our first real year of eligibility is a very nice accomplishment,” Frazier said.
