A couple of bad passes late in the game and a sub-par defensive effort resulted in a tough seven point loss Friday night for Massac County’s Patriots.

A Malcom Amos six footer drew first blood for Massac just seconds into the game, but that 2-0 lead lasted as long as a June frost as Herrin quickly opened a 9-2 lead.

Massac managed just a Ryan English 15 footer and a tough “garbage” bucket by big man Ethan Schulte for the remainder of the quarter and trailed 13-6 at the first horn.

Five Patriots scored in the second quarter, and Massac trimmed a couple of points off the Herrin lead to close to within five at the half at 27-22.
