The final deadline for submissions for Massac County, Illinois History and Families is Saturday, Oct. 20.

All family histories and photographs should be submitted by that time.

This is the last opportunity to have those family stories included in the book, which promises to be very interesting, and a great resource as well.

It will be bound in navy blue swirl grained leatherette with gold logo and lettering, suitable for display and reference now, and to pass down to future generations.

There is no charge for families to submit up to 500 words and one picture — a small charge applies for additional words and pictures.

“If you’ve been meaning to write your story, and just haven’t gotten it done, please, please do it now,” urged Betsy Fellows, book committee co-chair. “If you find it’s hard putting what you want to say into words, we’ll help all we can. Just call Cheryl Honey at 524-3882 or me at 524-7203.”

Family stories may be submitted by anyone with any connection to Massac County, whether living here now or in the past, or just having ancestors who lived here.

The Oct. 20 deadline also applies for special purchased pages, including histories of businesses, churches, organizations and schools, plus memorials and tributes.

Books should be ordered by that date as well, since only enough books will be printed as paid orders have been received.

Anyone who would like information about the book, or any of the special pages, who has any questions or wishes to purchase a book, may call Honey or Fellows to receive brochures and order forms.
