The Curtis Home was built about 1870, when Major Curtis returned from the Civil War and married.
A late-19th century photo of the home when the Curtis family lived there shows a sapling magnolia in the front yard.
That magnolia, now well over a century old, is today so big it obscures the view of the home, making it necessary to modify it in the logo’s design.
