Homecoming events are in full swing this week at Massac County High School, where this year’s theme is Superhero homecoming.

As in year’s past, several activities have been scheduled at the high school.

The classes will compete to win points for their class. These points will be awarded for the following activities:

• Daily class participation in dress-up themes

• Daily dress-up theme winners

• Class with the most faculty participation in dress-up days

• Daily dress-up theme faculty winner

• Pep rally competitions winners

• Best float at the homecoming parade

At Wednesday’s pep rally, the Homecoming Court will be introduced to the student body.

Wednesday is Superhero/Celebrity Day; Thursday is Freshman Nerds, Southern Sophomores, Jock Juniors and Senior Citizens; Friday is Red, White and Blue/Superman day.

The annual homecoming parade will be on Friday, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The parade will begin at Ninth and Market streets, continue on Market Street to the Massac County Courthouse, continue to Fifth and Ferry streets and then down Ferry Street to Third Street.

The parade will end at Washington Park. Participants will start lining up at 3 p.m. near Save-A-Lot.

The homecoming game against Herrin will begin Friday at 7 p.m.

The homecoming court will be presented at halftime with the coronation of the queen taking place on the football field.

Homecoming queen candidates are:

• Natalie Bailey, the daughter of Sterling and Julie Bailey. She is being escorted by Levi Harris, the son of Jason Harris and Holley Browning;

• Ali Eickholz, the daughter of Jeff and Laura Eickholz. She is being escorted by Chase Wilson, the son of Andrew Wilson and Mollie Foss;

• Abigail Hosman, the daughter of Joe and Joni Hosman. She is being escorted by Kyle Reinwald, the son of Shawn Reinwald and Trina Morrison;

• Rachael Leek, the daughter of Charles and Nancy Leek. She is being escorted by Brandon Rennie, the son of Daomon Rennie and Lindsay Jones;

• Haley McCaslin, the daughter of Karri Leach and Brad Leach. She is being escorted by John Camara, the son of Marie Williamson and Matthew Camara.

The freshman attendants are: Natalie Hosman, daughter of Joe and Joni Hosman. Her escort is J.T. Weber, the son of Tim and Becky Weber; Summer Smallman, the daughter of Brandon Smallman and Stephanie Smallman. Her escort is Jorden Parmer, the son of Justin and Lisa Parmer; Macy Wessel, the daughter of Myron and Sherry Wessel. She is being escorted by Caleb Duckworth, the son of Brad and Kristi Duckworth.

Sophomore attendants are: Kelsey McNichols, the daughter of Kris and Lynn McNichols. She is being escorted by Ryan Schroeder, the son of James and LaDonna Schroeder; Emily Reed, the daughter of Thomas and April Reed. Her escort will be Hayes Lawson, the son of Tim and Leslie Lawson.

The junior attendants are: Kennedy Leek, the daughter of Curtis and Joylynda Leek. Her escort will be Chase Denfip, the son of Joseph and Stephanie Denfip; Leilani Hill, the daughter of Edward Hill and Tamra Hornsby. Her escort will be Jacob Jones, the son of Faith Jones.
