Jean moved to Metropolis in 1963 with her husband and was a piano teacher for 25 years in Metropolis.
She was a member of the American Federation of Music Clubs, an Adult Literacy Volunteer, co-founded the Massac County Arts Council, wrote a weekly column for the Metropolis Planet, was a member of the Metropolis Garden Club and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Metropolis, where she served as Lector and Cantor for Liturgy, and was a supporter of and performer at the Market House Theater in Paducah.
Faith and family were a guide to Jean throughout her life.
Jean is survived by two daughters, Linda Arms of Memphis, Tennessee and Leslie McColgin and husband George Kennedy of Lowes, Kentucky; 2 grandchildren, Calen Andrew Kennedy of Lowes and Candra Wynne Kennedy and husband Jeremy Prouty of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and one nephew, Dr. C. Thomas Webb Jr. of Elk Grove Village.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Louise E. Power Foster; her husband, Herbert H. McColgin; one sister, Dorothy Louise Webb; and one brother, Jack Foster.
Funeral mass was held Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Michael Christopher Mujule officiating.
Organist was Lois Brinkman, and Cantor was Caroline Korte.
Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
