Mr. Whitis was a retired mechanic.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Sikes of Paducah and Christina Felts of Carmel, Ind.; two sisters, LaDonna Nelson and Jane Ann Alton, both of Paducah; one brother, Truman Whitis of Mayfield, Ky.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Murrell Whitis; five brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral service was held Sunday at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah. Burial followed at Spring Creek Church of Christ Cemetery in Graves County, Ky.
