Joanne Evans Carnes Farr, 78, of Paducah, died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at her home.

Mrs. Farr was a graduate of Augusta Tilghman High School and Paducah Community College with an associate’s degree in nursing. She was a retired registered nurse from Honeywell Corp., formerly Allied-Signal in Metropolis. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was the co-editor of the church cookbook and co-chaired the nursing home flower ministry. She was a member of the Salt Sunday school class and was an interpreter of the Deaf Chapel Class at First Baptist.

Mrs. Farr was a charter member of the local American Association of Operating Room Nurses, a charter member of the local American Association of Occupation Health Nurses and a volunteer nurse at St. Nicholas Medical Clinic since 1997. She was an usher at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center, a member of the Paducah Ambassadors and a charter member and organizer of the Magnolia Homemakers Club

Survivors include her husband, William D. “Bill” Farr of Paducah; one daughter, Sari Cathryn Carnes of Paducah; two sons, Charles Evans Carnes and wife Kathi of Fernandina Beach, Fla. and Christopher Joe Carnes and wife Wanda of Paducah; two stepdaughters, Linda Farr Thompson and husband Jerry of Smithland, Ky. and Lori Stivers and husband Tom of Paducah; three stepsons, John Farr and wife Dr. Carla Farr, Bob Farr and wife Becky of Paducah and Warren Farr, all of Paducah; nine grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; one brother, Tom Emerson Sr. of Paducah; and several nieces and a nephew.

Mrs. Farr was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles A. Carnes; her parents, Joe and Bessie Smith Evans; and her sister-in-law Lodine Emerson.

Funeral service was held Sunday at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Tommy Tucker and Rev. Lynn Shurley officiating. Burial followed at Brooks Memorial Park Cemetery.
