Joe Ed Klankey, 99, of Brookport, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at Lourdes hospital in Paducah.

Joe Ed was born Aug. 17, 1914 and was the son of Clara Klankey. He was of the Baptist faith.

Joe Ed worked as a commercial fisherman in Kentucky and Illinois. He loved the outdoors.

Survivors include three sons, Bobby Klankey and wife Margaret of Paducah and Jimmy Klankey and wife Joanie and Gary Klankey, all of Brookport; two stepdaughters, Kathy Baker and Janet Tucker, both of Brookport; two stepsons, Thomas Tucker of Brookport and Mike Tucker of Campbell, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, Tammy Brown, Tim Klankey, Rick Klankey, Kayla Ciefli, Kristal Carpenter, Julie Hite, Brent Fredrickson, Tammy Jackson, Lee Edminson, Justin Baker and Daniel Baker; 10 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother; his first wife, Ruby Medley Klankey; and his second wife, Mildred Rose Klankey.

Funeral service was held Sunday at Brookport Funeral Home with Scott Darnell officiating. Burial followed at Pell Cemetery.
