Elmer Johns retired from his job as parts manager at Frank Farmer Chevrolet on Sept. 24, after 54 years with the company.

On Sept. 26, the car dealership called him, wanting to know if he could come back in to help.

"I wasn't expecting them to call that soon," said Johns, who says now he is taking advantage of some time to be a little bit lazy and at the age of 88, after working a total of 64 years, most people would agree he has earned that right to take it easy.
