Jon L. Carlson, 67, of Metropolis, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

Born Dec. 19, 1944 in Geneva, Mr. Carlson was a retired truck driver from Lindell May Trucking Service.

He had also worked as a union steward for the Teamsters Union at Wagner’s.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one son, Jon Carlson and wife Jenna of Paducah; one daughter, Teresa Thomas and husband Bryan of Metropolis; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Thomas of Brookfield, Mo. and Olive Scott of Carrollton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Frances Buttrum Carlson; his parents, Elmer and Olive Carr Carlson; three brothers, Bob Carlson, Sonny Carlson and Wilbert Carlson; and one sister, Carol Pierce.

Funeral service was held Sunday at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville with Rev. Topper Council officiating. Burial followed at New Liberty Cemetery in Eddyville.
