Mrs. Sampley was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Metropolis.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Marian Downing; five grandchildren, Stacey Watson, Brandi Stratmeyer, Marietta Gibson, Wanda Dukes and Allison Sauerhage; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert J. Pansing; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lois Hilgeman Pansing; her first husband, Donald Lee Sumner; her second husband, Walter Dee Sampley; two sons, Randall Dale “Big R” Sumner and Douglas Neal Sumner; one sister, Jannette Pansing; and one brother, Joe Neal Pansing
Graveside service was held Monday at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Rev. Lauren Ley officiating.
Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home of Metropolis was in charge of arrangements.
