After a much needed break, Massac County’s Lady Patriots hit the hardwood Saturday afternoon in a rematch with highly regarded Marshall County.

The 53-41 loss to the Lady Marshals at December’s Hoopfest wasn’t quite as bad as it seemed as the girls stumbled badly out of the gate but recovered enough to play three quarters of Saturday’s game on even terms with Marshall.

A plethora of turnovers and a serious rebounding deficit put the Lady Patriots behind the eight ball early, but they wouldn’t go away.

Trailing 8-5 at the first horn and 25-15 at halftime, they weren’t sharp but they weren’t out of it either.
