The ladies overcame some key injuries and personnel losses to get to the sectional finals against Breese and seemed to save their best for last as they headed into tournament play.
Losing Emily Hoard and Taylor Klankey in the last days of regular season play and then Natalie Bailey in regional tournament action only served to bring out the best in the other girls as they dispatched Carbondale and Herrin to earn the trip to Waterloo.
At Waterloo, they overcame a tough Bethalto Civic Memorial team and a gym full of partisans earning them the right to take on Breese Mater Dei for a trip to the “Elite Eight.”
