Thursday night’s hard-fought 51-44 victory over Calloway County earned Massac County’s Lady Patriots the hardware at the end of the City of Metropolis Tournament.

It may have been a “coming out party” for the team, and it certainly was for freshmen Emily Hoard and Jessie Douglas.

This year’s version of the Lady Lakers is admittedly not the team that last year’s was, with West Virginia signee Averee Fields having graduated, but with the Futrell girls [Abby and Taylor] and Karlee Wilson back, this is still a real solid club.
