Still nursing some bumps and bruises, Massac County’s Lady Patriots finished fourth at Carbondale’s Invitational Tournament last week.

In the Friday night affair with the host school Terriers, Massac trailed 30-24 at the half but suffered through a third quarter drought to drop back 44-31 going into the last quarter.

Massac outscored Carbondale 10-9 in the final frame to cut the final margin to 53-41.

The Terriers avenged an earlier one sided loss to the Lady Patriots with the tournament win.

Gracyn McBride and Lauren Bunting were the only Patriots to reach double figures in scoring with 13 and 11 respectively.

In Saturday’s third place game with Collinsville, the ladies put together a nice third quarter run to turn a 26-23 halftime deficit into a 34-30 third quarter lead.

But then the wheels came off as Collinsville held the Lady Pats to just two points in the final stanza to come away with a somewhat surprising 41-36 win.
