A lackluster 55-50 win over West Frankfort last Tuesday, a mostly uninspired loss to Benton on Thursday and a hard fought loss to McCracken County Saturday afternoon at Mustang Madness leave Massac County’s Lady Patriots on a two game skid going into next week’s Carbondale Invitational.

“We did just enough to win” was how coach Keith Shelton described the win over the Lady Redbirds. “Our first game in two weeks and it showed.”

Massac County threatened on several occasions to open the game up and put West Frankfort away, but Morgan Griffith would have none of that.

Massac’s lead reached double figures more than once, but each time Griffith had the rebuttal. Griffith finished with a career high of 27 points. Massac got balanced scoring and was led by Gracyn McBride with 15.

The Benton game was just plain ugly for about 26 minutes or so.
