With conference wins last week over Murphysboro and Harrisburg and five wins Saturday over tournament foes, Massac County’s Lady Patriot volleyball team now stands at 16 and 4 for the year and is on quite a roll.

The straight set win over Murphy was a quality win for the ladies and was a hard-fought, closely contested match as the set scores were 25-20 and 25-22.

Jordan Willmes, Emily Hoard and Christina Whitthorne played outstanding games for the Lady Patriots. In the 25-23, 23-25 and 25-16 match against Harrisburg, Hoard, Whitthorne and Alexxus Thompson combined for 36 kills against the Lady Bulldogs and Rachael Leek had a whopping 30 assists.

The ladies ran the table on Saturday going 5-0 to take the championship trophy of the Superman Slam. The title match against New Athens was worthy of any championship game with both teams laying it all on the line.
