Survivors include one son, Joe Sledd and wife Barbara Kay of Kevil, Ky.; four grandchildren, Carrie Sledd and Michelle Sledd, both of Bardwell, Ky., Chris Sledd of Kevil and Brittany Walker of Metropolis; nieces and nephews, Imogene Burnham and husband Dennis, Debbie Smith and husband Robert and Dale Sledd and Roy Sledd, all of Metropolis, Ruth Ann Smith and husband Ronnie of Arab, Ala., Ronald Henderson and wife Kathy of Seattle, Wash. and Larry Henderson of Mattoon; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lalius and Myrtle Lampley Sledd; eight brothers and sisters, Lela Summers, Mamie Henderson, Bonnie Sledd, Bobby Sledd, Billy Sledd, Lee Roy Sledd, Delmar Jack Sledd and Thelma Sledd.
Graveside service was held Saturday at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Rev. Russell Gilbert officiating.
Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home of Metropolis was in charge of arrangements.
