Larry Joe Earnhart, 68, of Karnak, formerly of Anna, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 at 6:10 a.m. at Metropolis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Larry was born June 21, 1945, the son of Otis and Beulah Miller Earnhart.

He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Massac County.

Larry served as a Specialist in the U.S. Army.

He was the executive director at M.A.P. Training Center in Mounds and then Karnak for 34 years.

He served on the board of directors for the Illinois Association of Rehabilitation Facilities for more than 30 years.

Larry also served on the Jonesboro Library Board and on the Pulaski County Development Board in addition to being a village trustee and former mayor of Karnak.

He had also taught part-time at Shawnee Community College in the fields of geology, astronomy and chemistry.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Earnhart and their daughter Lara Earnhart, both of Karnak; two sons, Jason Earnhart and wife Nikki of Springfield and Nathan Earnhart and wife April of Benton; one grandchild, Jackson Earnhart of Benton; one sister, Mary Webb of Manteno; and beloved Schnauzers, Ruby and Emily.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ottis and Beulah Miller Earnhart; one sister, Ruby Williams; and one brother, Paul Earnhart.

Funeral service was held Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Don Lindner officiating.

Burial followed at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Truman Logeman, Paul Horman, Austin Horman, Josh Alley, Eric Chilman, Bob Putney and Mike Logeman. Honorary pallbearer was Rex Neill.

Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak was in charge of arrangements.
