Linda was born on June 5, 1950 in Metropolis, the daughter of the late Buddy and Florida Baynes Johnston and had attained the age 61. She married Glen Pennington on Feb. 14, 1980 in Simpson and he survives.
Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and also liked to cook, do the grocery shopping and loved the company of her dogs. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Pennington is survived by her children, Jimmie Pennington and his fiancé Barbara Averitt of Joppa, Tammy and her husband Percy Ford of Carlyle, Chris and his wife Connie Pennington of Cypress and Andy Pennington of Simpson; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Norma Cavitt of Paducah, Faye and her husband Jackie Braffen of Paducah, James Johnston of Metropolis, Phillip and his wife Roxanne Johnston of Metropolis, Jerry Johnston of Metropolis, Vicky and her husband J.R. Hall of Metropolis and Cathy Darnell of Metropolis; and by several nieces and nephews.
Linda was a Godmother to Desiree Walton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd “Pee Wee” Johnston and Stevie Johnston; two sisters, Mary Hornback and Rhoda Peck; her mother-in-law, Ethel Pennington; one nephew, Matthew Peck; and by a great-nephew, Jackson Pruett.
A funeral ceremony was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18 at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna with Pastor David Wright officiating. Interment followed at Rock Springs Cemetery in Simpson.
