Owned by Mary Ann and Wally Mittendorf, the red barn can be spotted easily off Mt. Mission Road, at 25 Country View Lane near Franklin Elementary School.
“We’ve poured our hearts and souls into this business so that we can bring nothing less than the freshest, most delicious, organically-grown garlic and vegetables right to an individual’s table,” explained Mary Ann.
Rows and rows of vegetables can be seen when pulling up to the barn, with picking taking place each morning prior to opening.
Even though some of the vegetables, like green beans are not ready yet, the farm currently has in stock tomatoes, squash, zucchini, beets, peppers, greens, potatoes, cucumbers, various herbs and garlic….lots of garlic.
“Garlic has long been recognized for its health boosting capabilities,” said Mary Ann. “With most garlic grown in other countries and shipping to the U.S., we expect to be shipping a lot of our garlic to customers in the states because of its freshness and being organic.”
Lou Lou’s will offer the following gourmet garlic varieties: Purple Italian, Russian Red, Music, German Red, Lortz Italian, Silver White, Inchelium Red and Redneck Wild.
Blackberries are available now, but Lou Lou’s will offer U-pick blackberries next year and, in two years, blueberries.
The doors will be open year around, offering gift items like handmade handkerchiefs, dollies and pillowcases, along with handmade furniture, such as porch beds and picnic tables, made by Wally Mittendorf.
