Lowell E. Cook, 85, of Metropolis, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at 5:05 p.m. at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

A life celebration will be held Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Russell Gilbert officiating.

Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Greg Horman, Bruce Horman, Curtis Stratmeyer, Mike Reames, Mike Kommer and Larry Manning.

Born to John Aubrey and Annals Stratemeyer Cook on Jan. 26, 1926, Mr. Cook was a member of Cherry Street Pentecostal Church in Metropolis and had farmed and worked and retired from Honeywell. He was also a member of the Operating Engineers Local 318.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Catherine Cook of Metropolis; one sister, Mary Lou Nelson of Metropolis; one nephew, Keith Nelson and wife Karen of Paducah; and two great-nephews, Daniel and Jesse Nelson, both of Paducah.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
