The boys played in a quad match at Calvert City Country Club last Thursday with Calloway County, Marshall County and Paducah Tilghman and came in second.
Calloway had three lads turn in scores of par or better with Hunter Garrison leading the way with a four under 32 [par 36] for a team score of 143.
Massac’s Zach Burnham fired a tidy two under 34 to lead Patriot scoring and was second overall behind Garrison.
Freshman Drake Stepter carded a nice one under score of 35 and fellow freshman Jon Duley went one over par at 37.
Mitchell Stegman rounded out Massac scoring at 41 for a team score of 147, four strokes off the pace of Calloway.
Marshall County was a distant third at 166 and Tilghman had a team score of 180.
The Lady Patriots hit the links twice last week and came up winners both times.
At Lake of Egypt Country Club against perennial threat Marion and West Frankfort, the girls rolled to a 33 stroke victory over Marion and were 50 strokes better than West Frankfort. Sami Weber led the girls with a 37.
Kirsten Faulkner and Elaney Sommer both shot 44s and Peyton Helm rounded out Massac scoring with a 48.
Paige Ellerbusch carded a 49 and Addie Gray shot 50 also for Massac.
The girls played their first conference match Thursday at Herrin and served notice to all comers with a blowout win over the host Tigers.
The 53 stroke win [154-207] was led by co-medalists Weber and Helm who fired 37s. Faulkner was close on the leaders’ heels with a 38 and Laura Bremer recorded a 42 to round out Massac scoring.
Ali Eickholz and Sommer also played and shot 45 and 47 respectively.
